Giving Back
We at Clarke American are proud of our corporate culture of giving and even more proud of our associates who embrace the idea that the modest endeavors of a few can make an exceptional difference in the lives of many. So, whether we’re mentoring a child with special needs or donating a portion of our paycheck to fund United Way-sponsored organizations, we take our sense of community and our obligation of volunteerism very seriously. FIS is the foundation and driving force behind the company’s continuous improvement initiatives. It aligns Clarke American’s goals and actions with the goals of its partners and the customers of these financial institutions. The company uses this single-minded organizational focus to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.
Clarke American concentrates its philanthropic efforts in a few key areas including education, community and civic needs, health and welfare, and the environment. Some of the organizations for which we volunteer include:
United Way (www.unitedway.org)
We share United Way’s philosophy that the best way to help the most people is to work together as a community and focus on the most serious needs. United Way mobilizes communities to improve lives, and Clarke American is proud to be its partner.
Junior Achievement (www.ja.org)
Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand not only the economics of life, but also their individual potential. Clarke American proudly partners with Junior Achievement in its efforts to reach some 7 million K through 12th grade students each year by providing volunteers as well as donations.

Our Commitment to You
We at Clarke American are committed to being valuable business partners who provide innovative products and services that are technology driven, quality focused and fraud preventing.
Valuable business partners
We educate ourselves on our partners’ business issues and wrap our strategic plans around their needs.
In all of our endeavors we strive for a triple win outcome. When our partners win and their customers win, we win.
Innovative
Clarke American has two dedicated areas focused entirely on research and development: our Engineering Technology Center and Plant Engineering Services. Employees who operate these areas have a combined experience of more than 250 years in the check printing industry and possess extensive backgrounds in engineering, software development and production equipment and operations.
Our innovations are always based on partner and customer needs. To gather feedback, we conduct regular consumer research via focus groups and informal and formal customer surveys.
Technology driven
To remain a leader in the manufacturing and servicing industries, Clarke American uses the best technology available. If it doesn’t exist, we partner with other experts to design and develop it.
For example, InTouch, our digital printing technology, represents a quantum breakthrough in quality, accuracy and cycle time. We originally developed InTouch in 1995 in partnership with Xerox, and continually enhance the technology to ensure we’re improving turnaround time (manufacturing cycle time is now tracked in hours, not days), eliminating errors and ultimately increasing customer satisfaction.
In our world-class contact centers, we use industry-leading technology to respond efficiently and thoroughly to customer inquiries on behalf of our financial institution partners 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Quality focused
Clarke American uses a well-defined quality process to develop partner and customer solutions. Ideas are generated throughout the organization, and are driven by identified partner needs and actual consumer experiences.
Fraud preventing
Clarke American is an industry leader in fraud prevention. We use such tools as early warning fraud detection software, a clearly-defined security policy and a dedicated Security Assurance Team to detect and deter fraudulent behavior and ensure our checks are the safest, most secure method of payment in the marketplace.
